My iPod Touch gets/has some of my drawing/sketching/painting apps, just so I can load finished or near finished work from my iPad to my iPod Touch and use those apps more as a viewer or to do minor edits to on my iPod Touch. I, also, shoot and edit video on my iPads, as well. I store only my favorite music on my iPad (not my entire music library), some music radio style apps, no stored videos, save all my images/photos to my iPad and have books and magazines to read, also, on my iPads. My iPads have all my creative drawing/sketching/design/painting apps, as well as, some word processing/document processing apps.
So, my iPads have always been the creative tool that also happen to have some other media content on them. I am an artist/design creative using drawing/painting/ design apps on a much smaller screen is just an exercise in frustration. I check and answer mail on both devices, but I use my iPad, almost exclusively for web browsing when I am not on my Mac. I have the 6th gen iPod Touch (which is, basically, an iPhone 6 without the phone) and I use this completely differently from my iPad. Only you can decide if making the devices mirror each other is what you actually want to do and if it makes sense for you to do it. It is nice to have the flexibility to type an email or a short document on the phone, research something on the the web, or do any of the other things that I can do on the iPad, but since I rarely do those things on my phone, it isn't important to me to have the phone mirror the iPad.Īt one point, my devices were basically clones of each other, but once I realized that it didn't work for me, I removed a bunch of apps on the phone and no longer worried about keeping the devices identical. I am one of those rare people that really uses my iPhone as device to mostly make phone calls. I don't want everyone hearing what I am doing all day long at work.įor me it doesn't make sense to make the devices clones of each other. Dictation would never work for me either.

There is no way that I could type documents, type lengthy emails, work with pdf files and do the other things that I need to do all day long at work.
I even have issues typing a text on the small screen.
In my case, there is no way that I could do everything on the phone that I do on my iPad, even if I so desired, because the small screen just does not work that well for me. I also have an iPhone 5s that I purchased in September 2013 just after the model was released. I now use an iPad Air 2 which has become my daily go to computing device, because it really fits 99% of my daily needs and that includes using it at work. I have had an iPad since the days on the first model in 2010.
